Shehla-Rashid-ImageAs a little girl, I was very curious about books.  A greedy reader, I’d quickly gulp in every interesting book out there- from psychology to occult sciences- even though there was a lot in them that I didn’t understand. I once picked up a journal of Vedic teachings from my mom’s library and I came across a story that has since had a deep impact on my life. I have forgotten the details, but I’ll narrate the story here:

Once upon a time, a man was resting under the shade of a walnut tree on a hot, sultry afternoon. Just nearby was a pumpkin creeper. The man thought to himself, “Why would God grow pumpkins on a creeper and walnuts on a tree when it should have been the other way round? Pumpkins need stronger support while walnuts do not- how did it not occur to God?”.

Just when he was about to leave the shady tree, a walnut fell from above and hit his head. He then realised that had it been pumpkins that grew on trees instead of walnuts, he’d be dead and that shady trees would not be safe for tired travellers, like himself, to rest under! He then realised that there’s a lot that God knows and we do not. He realised that God has planned everything beforehand.

God is a master-planner and everything on this Earth has a purpose. I am a believer- I believe in an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God. I am sure that Allah has put me on this Earth to fulfil a purpose- I am still looking for that purpose. I am trying to figure out what my role in the master-scheme of things is.

The hardest thing, I believe, is to describe oneself- I am trying to unlock the answer in terms of what my purpose of being alive is. God has equipped all of us with certain unique talents. These talents define who we are and what we’re meant to do- it takes a lot of hit and trial to identify your best talent, to find out what you’re best-suited to do.

For now, I am a researcher, blogger, columnist, qualified engineer, etc. My interests range from Conflict to History to Fashion to Social Entrepreneurship.
